Department Overview
Ronald McDonald House Charities, Inc. seeks its first Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead information technology for the global organization and its charitable system. This role represents a strategic opportunity for a values-based, dynamic leader to lead the transformation of the information technology function.
This position will require an extraordinary thought leader with demonstrated success leading information technology in large complex organizations across multiple markets. Candidates must have experience and skills in leading change through intellect, influence, and persuasion amongst many stakeholders. Experience collaborating with a multiplicity of stakeholders (e.g., affiliated chapters, donors, partners, etc.) is a critical capability for success in this role.
The CIO will be responsible for developing and overseeing the execution of a multi-year technology roadmap for Ronald McDonald House Global and its charitable system. The Roadmap will be informed by a comprehensive global technology assessment and supported by a new strategic plan that includes plans for material investment in the organization and system’s technology capabilities and capacity.
The CIO will build a Technology Governance Committee to stage-gate critical technology projects consistent with the organization’s strategic plan and budgets. The CIO will lead Ronald McDonald House Global’s technology team and be responsible for advancing an organization design to support the future state needs of the technology function.
As a key member of the senior leadership team, reporting to the President and CEO, the CIO will oversee IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, and digital transformation initiatives, enabling innovation and operational excellence across the organization and system. This leader will engage directly with the Global Board of Trustees – serving as a strategic advisor to the Board and executive team on technology trends, risks, and opportunities.
Duties
- Provide vision, leadership, and business alignment that leads to development and implementation of a prioritized strategic IT roadmap for all areas of the global organization and the charitable system it supports.
- Develop overall strategies for enterprise-wide systems, architecture and design to ensure systems integrate well and can be shared easily among authorized users.
- Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost optimization while driving technology innovation.
- Benchmark IT spending against peers in the industry and use the information to educate the Governance committee, Board and stakeholders to ensure sound investments.
- Educate, advise, and collaborate with the leadership team appropriately to make sound decisions regarding technology’s role in achieving the organization’s strategic goals.
- Ensure IT data security, risk management, disaster recovery and business continuity planning processes are in place and receive regular review of their adequacy.
- Work with leadership to develop an organization structure that allows for proper internal resources to meet longer-term goals.
- Manage strategic vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for software, hardware, and professional services.
- Establish and direct strategic and tactical goals, policies, and procedures for the information technology function.
- Oversee the network infrastructure in the organization to ensure optimal performance and dependability across various company locations.
- Oversee all aspects of technology operations, including infrastructure, applications, security, data governance, services and support.
- Monitor emerging trends and advancements in technology to ensure Ronald McDonald House continues to meet and exceed industry standards.
- Ensure data consistency and transferability between independently selected software systems.
- Lead, develop, and mentor a high-performing, diverse IT organization focused on innovation, agility, and service excellence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or another Technology-Related field preferred. Advanced degree in technology leadership or business administration preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including prior experience as CIO, CTO, VP of IT, or equivalent role.
- Strong track record of delivering complex technology projects and driving innovation in a growth environment.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proven success in leading large-scale digital transformations.
- Extensive experience with IT strategic planning, budgeting, and personnel management.
- A visionary leader able to influence change in a decentralized and growing global non-profit system.
- Demonstrated ability to build, develop and lead successful project teams of IT professionals.
- Experience leading teams with success in motivating and supporting employee career and skill development.
- Solid understanding of data analysis and business operations for budget planning.
- Superior analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail.
- Broad technical knowledge, with an understanding of emerging IT trends.
- Demonstrated experience and skill in qualifying and negotiating with vendors, contractors, and others.
- Significant experience in all aspects of information technology, planning, development, implementation, including but not limited to enterprise resource planning, systems architecture, database administration, web development.

Salary Range
The expected salary range for this role is $222,000-$289,000 per year
