Department Overview

The Chief of Staff will hold a director-level position and serve as a trusted advisor and right-hand to the Chief Development Officer (CDO) at McDonald's USA. This role requires a highly organized and strategic individual who can effectively lead cross-functional collaboration, support decision-making processes, and facilitate communication between the CDO, the field team, internal teams, and external partners. The Chief of Staff will play a critical role in driving operational excellence, prioritization, and critical initiatives within the department.

Duties

Strategic Support:

  • Collaborate with the CDO to develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives.
  • Conduct research and analysis to provide insights and recommendations on business opportunities and challenges for USRD.
  • Assist in setting departmental goals, and performance metrics for all teams.
  • Advise and assist CDO on prioritizing Market tours, conferences and liaise with the Cross functional teams as needed for talking points, presentations.
  • Effectively delegate and allocate work to empower team members and achieve timely execution of key strategies.
  • Act as a strategic partner to CDO and the leadership team

Talent/Professional Development

  • Promote the professional growth and expertise of staff through ongoing training, coaching, and rewards and recognition.
  • Maintain teams needed level of expertise in all areas of US Restaurant Design.
  • Assist and supervise team members with complex business and operational issues.
  • Participate in talent management, calibration, and compensation planning for departmental staff at the Officer level and below.
  • Partner with HR to identify talent needs, participate in the recruitment and selection process, and onboard new team members.
  • Support professional development initiatives and provide guidance and mentorship to team members.
  • Champion a positive and inclusive work environment which promotes collaboration and continuous improvement.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Develop and implement communication strategies to ensure effective dissemination of information throughout the organization.
  • Coordinate and facilitate regular departmental meetings and town halls ensuring key topics and initiatives are addressed.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers to drive cross-functional projects and initiatives.

Culture/Engagement

  • Model and champion McDonald’s Values and strategic priorities.
  • Motivate and engage team members, remains open to differing viewpoints and recognizes and encourages team members that have the courage to be bold, speak up or challenge entrenched organizational attitudes and practices.
  • Facilitate regular discussions about DEI topics and encourages the sharing of diverse opinions and concerns.
  • Lead efforts to increase diversity and inclusion and highlight DEI activities.

Project Management:

  • Lead and prioritize multiple projects, across the department and as needed cross functionally ensuring timely delivery and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Be responsible for the creation of presentations, reports, and other materials to support executive-level meetings and decision-making.
  • Monitor project progress, identify bottlenecks, and proactively address issues to ensure successful outcomes.

Director-Level Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic guidance to the USRD leadership team, ensuring their alignment with departmental goals.
  • Collaborate with other directors and senior leaders to drive initiatives and achieve organizational objectives.
  • Represent the Chief Development Officer in high-level meetings, presentations, and discussions.
  • Contribute to the development and execution of departmental and organizational strategies. (Meet the Plan)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a related field (MBA preferred).
  • Skills for, and preferably experience in, leading a team of professionals.
  • Strong leadership capabilities, including the ability to adapt to various constituencies.
  • Ability to give to, influence, and frequently lead cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent relationship building and communication skills with employees and leaders at all levels (including c-suite).
  • Confirmed experience in a senior-level executive support or chief of staff role.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate optimally with diverse customers.
  • Strong critical thinking and analytical abilities, with a track record of driving impactful business outcomes.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and lead multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Experience in the restaurant or retail industry is a plus.
  • Ability to travel as required to field locations and attend meetings.

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this role is $157,655.00 - $197,069.00 per year
