This opportunity is part of the Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations team (GTIO), where our mission is to deliver modern and relevant technology that supports the way McDonald’s works. We provide outstanding foundational technology products and services including Global Networking, Cloud, End User Computing, and IT Service Management. It’s our goal to always provide an engaging, relevant, and simple experience for our customers.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Cloud Infrastructure & Operations, and working closely with the entire technology leadership team, the GTIO Director, Global Cloud DevSecOps Platform, will anticipate and manage the strategic and tactical needs for McDonald’s Global Enterprise DevSecOps Platform initiative while overseeing the development and deployment of the platform. You will work closely with various partners and stakeholders across the globe.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technology leader to help craft and champion the transformation of infrastructure and DevSecOps practices and standards for the entire McDonald’s environment.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Lead the Cloud Enterprise DevSecOps Platform teams, providing strategic vision while balancing near-term output.
- Develop and deliver a cohesive vision, strategy, and roadmaps for the DevSecOps Platform in partnership with multi-functional teams.
- Maintain a strategic focus while retaining an appropriate level of hands-on management.
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, ensuring developers have the resources and environment needed to deliver high-quality solutions efficiently.

Team Management & Collaboration
- Mentor, manage, and hire a successful team of managers, architects, and engineering professionals. Set clear priorities to achieve enterprise goals and critical metrics.
- Partner with business leaders, technical product managers, and architects to determine the long-term viability of systems/products, from business and technology standpoints.
- Communicate ideas effectively, verbally and in writing, to a wide variety of audiences, including Directors, Senior Directors, and VPs. Foster a constructive dialogue, harmonize discordant views, and lead the resolution of issues.
- Remove bottlenecks to enable teams to work independently. Drive team members to proactively identify gaps and opportunities (e.g., services, workflows, tooling) within or between markets and other parts of the organization.
DevOps Platform Strategy & Transformation
- Drive the strategy for centralizing and rationalizing the global DevOps tool stack, ensuring consistency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness across all markets and teams.
- Lead the evaluation and selection of DevOps tools, promoting standardization and best practices while eliminating redundant or legacy solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define and implement unified processes for CI/CD, automation, monitoring, and security, aligning with enterprise objectives.
- Understand McDonald's current landscape of tools, processes, standards, automation, monitoring, etc. as input to the vision for evolution of the DevSecOps platform.
- Understand global and regional infrastructure, CI/CD platform requirements and lead the transformation, convergence, standardization, and innovation efforts for the Platform.
Internal Developer Portal (IDP – Cortex) Implementation
- Champion the design, rollout, and adoption of an Internal Developer Portal (IDP), leveraging Cortex to streamline developer workflows, improve discoverability of services, and accelerate onboarding.
- Partner with engineering, product, and platform teams to ensure the IDP meets the needs of diverse developer communities and integrates seamlessly with existing infrastructure.
- Establish metrics and feedback loops to continuously improve the portal’s usability, relevance, and impact on developer productivity.
Developer Experience (DevEx)
- Lead initiatives to enhance Developer Experience (DevEx), focusing on reducing friction, improving documentation, and providing self-service capabilities.
- Advocate for the voice of the developer, gathering feedback and driving improvements in tools, processes, and support.
Program & Vendor Management
- Lead assessments and vendor selections to develop and deploy groundbreaking platform tools and services, spanning beyond traditional technology to deliver value.
- Balance program schedule, budget, quality, and risks.
- Supervise and ensure the accuracy, quality, security, and usability of all infrastructure platforms.
Analytical & Problem Solving
- Decompose significantly sophisticated problems into straightforward solutions. Consistently bring strong, data-driven business and technical judgment to decisions.
- Identify core problems or opportunities within business processes. Understand the root cause and impacts for the project and other teams.
Qualifications
Technical Expertise
- Experience with infrastructure as a service (IaaS).
- Experience with Edge and Cloud platform design patterns and vendor platform capabilities; experience deploying Edge or Cloud tools and technologies.
- Strong experience owning and delivering high load digital platforms / infrastructure with measurable results.
Leadership & Influence
- Demonstrated ability to effectively influence and partner across product and platform teams within a global engineering organization.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and navigate to get results within a globally distributed organization.
- Experience leading technical teams that manage a strategically important product and/or a suite of products.
- Experience influencing senior executives (VPs, SVP), and setting expectations for major cross-functional initiatives.
Business & Financial Acumen
- Deep understanding of global complexities and differences between markets / regions.
- Experience managing chargebacks, P&L of a program and developing/managing financial forecasts to communicate ROI and spend rate.
Experience & Education
- 10+ years of relevant work experience and a bachelor’s degree in computer science/engineering/technology, or 3+ years of relevant work experience and a master’s degree.
- 8+ years of technology capability implementation and deployment experience across multiple IT practices that may include infrastructure leadership, service management leadership, technology operations, engineering, security, and business relationship management.
- 5+ years of experience in leadership roles, including leading teams of employees.

Salary Range
The expected salary range for this role is $195,371.00 - $244,214.00 per year
