Department Overview

The U.S. Food Safety & Quality Systems Team is part of the North America Supply Chain function that enables the McDonald’s System to connect customers with food they love and trust.  The role requires systems thinking, strong communication, and a partnership mindset to deliver integrated solutions, build trust cross-functionally, and work closely with internal teams, suppliers, distributors, operators, and global partners. Primary responsibilities include:

Duties

  • Lead U.S. FSQS Supplier and Distributor Performance strategic planning across the U.S. Supply Chain, leveraging data, digital tools, and systems thinking to proactively manage risk, prioritize actions, and protect the brand.
  • Lead realization of USFSQS Supplier and Distributor Goals & KPIs via collaboration with team, business and oversight of internal and 3rd party/external resources
  • Mentor, coach and support People Development and foster an environment where everyone has equal opportunity to succeed
  • Define and lead Prioritization, Agility & Consistency processes and ways of working, focusing on Driving Results and Outcomes most meaningful across the supplier and distributor network today and for tomorrow (future-proofing)
  • Identify and assess US Supplier and Distributor food safety, quality and other applicable brand reputational gaps and risks against McDonald’s expectations
  • Set and lead the strategy development and prioritization of supplier and distributor level actions to capitalize on opportunities and/or protect the brand
  • Manage resourcing plan (including 3rd party and supplier resources such as Tech Teams, Councils, etc.) and oversee the team in building supplier/vendor FSQS management tools that enable consistency and accountability
  • Strengthen and establish (where needed) + up-version verification and validation processes to ensure current and ongoing compliance to McDonald’s expectations (e.g. SQMS, AH&W Commitments)
  • Collaborate across 3LS, maximizing impact as a member of the U.S Supply Chain Director team and across the US and GSC/global business to influence change, proactively manage issues and improve food safety, quality, AH&W, and overall supplier and distributor performance
  • Champion the use of digital tools, analytics, and AI-enabled insights to strengthen supplier and distributor performance monitoring and accountability while continuously improving consistency, transparency, and speed to decision making
  • Benchmark within and outside of the system, sharing the McDonald’s story, partner and collaborate on industry issues, to identify and integrate best-in-class practices, and driving FSQS excellence across US Suppliers and Distributors

Qualifications

  • The required characteristics and skills of individual in the role include the ability to:
    • build trust and credibility as a valued business partner;
    • assess supply chain risks and develop mitigation plans,
    • influence and proactively manage stakeholder expectations through effective communication including delivery of insights through clear storytelling;
    • effectively leverage subject matter expertise in support of others and business objectives;
    • leverage data, analytics, and digital tools;
    • incorporate learnings obtained through external networking and benchmarking to drive continuous improvement 
  • A track record of building relationships and effectively collaborating with suppliers, cross-functional partners, operators (franchisees) and industry 
  • Demonstrated passion and commitment to coaching and developing others 
  • 10+ years of food safety and quality program management experience; specific experience in restaurant food safety, quality systems and/or sanitation/hygiene a plus 
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree in relevant field of study preferred - e.g., food science, animal science, food safety, environmental health

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this role is $168,212.00 - $210,265.00 per year
