Department Overview
Can I get uhhhhhhhhhh… one growth-minded Social Media and Creator Marketing Director to lead one of the most influential brands on the internet?
This is McDonald’s social. It’s the job that makes you famous at every party you walk into, and also the job where you’ll read 1,625 comments about the Grimace Shake before your coffee kicks in. Fans will still ask you about getting their hands on McNugget Caviar and remind you daily that the McRib exists (we have nothing but respect for this legend). The DMs begging for all-day breakfast are simply part of your daily routine.
If you know how to turn a brand into a cultural main character, keep reading.
What you’ll own
- Setting the strategy and creative vision for our most important social campaigns, organic and paid, across every platform in the US business.
- Building culture-led campaigns and always-on activations that earn mass attention, not just impressions.
- Defining our creator strategy alongside our PR and Media teams, leading with genuine fans of the brand and building an always-on creator collective.
- Measuring what matters: analyzing KPIs, translating data into insight, and optimizing to grow brand affinity over time.
- Partnering with world-class creative and media agencies to take big swings and land them.
And most importantly, collaborating daily with our internal influencer, Brian from Legal, easily the highlight of your day (not a joke).
Who you are:
- You know social. You get the modern customer, and you know a small, mighty community will always outpace a vanity follower count.
- You’re a social media architect who can build a distinct presence across platforms that actually resonates with fans.
- You’re not afraid of business data. You build social plans that ladder up to long-term priorities, not just the fleeting joy of a tweet designed for giggles.
- You can read the numbers, prep the reports, pull the insight, and adjust the playbook.
- You’re socially obsessed, with your finger permanently on the pulse of culture.
- You value long-term community over shock value, and you know the difference between having something to say and just having to say something.
Where this role sits:
- The social media team lives within US Marketing and reports to the VP of our Brand, Content & Culture team. You’ll lead a team of six (including you), powered by internal talent and external agency partners, to set the vision, strategy, and best practices that drive growth, engagement, and brand perception across every platform.
- Need a tangible example? Think back to the Meal built around the biggest music band of all time that took the world by storm and was smooth like butter. Or the Meal with collectible figurines for adults that sold out in four days. That kind of stuff. (We can’t say the actual names here, because Brian from Legal is definitely reading this. We all know he secretly wants a seat on the social team.)
The fine print:
No, you cannot be paid in nuggets. Yes, tasting new products before the rest of the world is officially part of the assignment.
Qualifications
- You KNOW social media. (Yes, we’ve said it three times now. That’s how important it is.)
- You value long-term community building over shock value.
- You believe in the power of creators and in building a collaborative space to share the pen with them.
- You have deep expertise across social platforms, both paid and organic.
- You have a proven track record collaborating with cross-functional partners, including Legal, because you know there’s no good social without it. (Still with us, Brian?)
