Department Overview
Seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join a fast paced and growing transfer pricing team. The Transfer Pricing Director is a key leader of a creative and solution-oriented team. The team is part of a collaborative global tax team where we encourage debate and welcome ideas from all team members. The Transfer Pricing Director is responsible for helping to lead a team of four, managing the transfer pricing life cycle, including policy implementation, executing strategic tax projects, operational transfer pricing process optimization and supporting compliance documentation.
The Transfer Pricing Director will direct external tax advisor service delivery and will focus on TP and Planning issues and challenges around our Intellectual Property and Cost Sharing. The Transfer Pricing Director will analyze global tax legislation, including relevant US/OECD developments, participate in cross-functional efforts to comply with global tax rules, contribute to tax and transfer pricing model optimization, participate in audit defense and dispute resolution, and lead strategic global transfer pricing initiatives, including the integration of acquisitions into compliance and documentation processes.
The Transfer Pricing Director works closely with global and market leaders across finance, and other business functions to drive policy implementation, monitor intercompany transactions, and maintain compliance with global tax rules. Note: This role follows a hybrid schedule with three days per week onsite at the MHQ office. We are open to considering candidates who are willing to relocate to Chicago independently.
Responsibilities
- Lead Intellectual Property Strategy - Serve as a primary leader in understanding our Intellectual Property, its value, associated risks, and opportunities. Drive IP planning and resolution of controversies for the US and international markets, including assessing the arm's length nature of intercompany royalties and other transactions.
- Transfer Pricing Analysis & Documentation - Analyze and document tax planning projects involving transfer pricing, including intercompany pricing reviews, especially focused on intellectual property, intercompany financing, and intercompany services.
- Economic Modeling - Create and optimize complex economic models to support strategic decision-making and tax planning initiatives.
- Functional Interviews and Insights - Lead functional interviews, learning about how and why McDonald’s is so successful and applying that knowledge into actionable reports and insights.
- Decision-making with Data - Gather and analyze intercompany financial data, prepare and review presentations and documentation reports, and coordinate requests from McDonald’s markets around the world and with external service providers.
- Valuation Projects - Partner with external advisors to manage valuation projects.
- Global Audit Support - Assist with the responses to global tax audits that involve transfer pricing, including collecting necessary data and responding to information requests from tax authorities
- Tax Accounting Compliance - Prepare calculations and documentation related to transfer pricing in support of tax accounting requirements.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with and build positive relationships across the business, the finance organization and the different functional teams within the Tax Dept.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s, Master's or PhD degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or Accounting.
- 10+ years of relevant Transfer Pricing experience in either a public accounting or corporate setting.
- Complex analytical, strong problem-solving skills, and economic modeling experience with the ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
- Significant experience in IP planning and defense, including Cost Sharing.
- Experience with valuations.
- The ability to rethink complex processes and work with a team in a continuous improvement environment.
- Strong business and financial acumen and strong communication and writing skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, curious mind set, confident, independent and logical problem solver.
- Experience with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Copilot, Outlook. Alteryx, Microsoft PowerBI, Tableau and other automation tools is a strong plus.

Salary Range
The expected salary range for this role is $178,121.00 - $222,651.00 per year
