Department Overview

McDonald’s Treasury seeks to drive business growth and enhance stakeholder value by providing world-class global financial leadership and expertise to the McDonald’s System. Guided by McDonald’s Values, the Treasury team works as trusted business partners to protect and build the McDonald’s brand by maximizing System access to capital and liquidity, safeguarding Company assets, managing financial risks, and providing the business with financial counsel, education and expertise to make informed decisions.

Duties

The Director will lead teams working to ensure Franchisee access to capital in support of McDonald’s strategic initiatives and mitigate supply chain financial risk impacts to restaurant-level profitability. Reporting to the Corporate Assistant Treasurer, the Director will lead a team of four Treasury professionals while managing key partners across Finance, Supply Chain, Franchising, and Legal and have responsibility for external commercial relationships with banking and supplier partners. The Director will be an integral part of the Treasury Leadership Team and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the department.

Specifically, the Director will provide:

  • Leadership and Talent Development – Actively contribute as a member of Treasury’s leadership team through support of team culture, values, and the development of the next generation of leaders. Empower and develop our people by championing our values-based culture; prioritizing performance management, talent planning and career development; and enabling efficient decision making and ways of working.
  • Franchisee Finance Leadership – Ensure availability and competitiveness of financing solutions available to McDonald’s franchisees by identifying, developing, and maintaining relationships with financial institutions. Establish standards for being a Preferred Lender and educate them on McDonald’s business results, financing needs and key strategic initiatives. Consult with Field, Franchisees, Banks, and CPAs on transactions as needed while overseeing lending guidelines, loan documentation, and related procedures. Direct lender engagement at various Franchisee and CPA conferences.
  • System Financial Health and Discipline – Promote System financial health and discipline through evaluation of franchisee borrowing capacity and ability to finance strategic investments. Develop insights and recommendations to promote further alignment on borrowing standards and financial discipline across the System. Understand and communicate lender underwriting criteria to business partners and assess selective use of Company-supported financing programs. Lead intermediation of all financial distress situations to optimize outcomes across stakeholders.
  • Supply Chain Financial Risk Management – Partner with Global Supply Chain and external suppliers to identify and prioritize risk management actions seeking to mitigate commodity and currency risk impact on annual food and paper spend. Educate stakeholders on commodity impacts across product categories and ensure team focus and capabilities are aligned with Supply Chain objectives.
  • Financial Policies and Governance – Oversee the Company’s Global Financial Policy framework and market subsidiary adherence. Apply continuous improvement principles in the design and implementation of team workflows and reporting to enhance the use data and analytics, elevate performance monitoring, and streamline decision making and governance.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a strategic leader with proven ability to collaborate and influence across a complex, multinational organization while prioritizing what matters most. The leader will demonstrate an intellectual curiosity on global macroeconomic and financial market trends and apply them to McDonald’s business accordingly.

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of experience of relevant finance, accounting, treasury, or banking experience
  • 5+ years of people management experience
  • Broad understanding of financing and financial risk management concepts and insight into current industry trends and challenges
  • Proven ability to turn thought leadership and strategy into execution plans and results
  • Experience delivering results in a global organization and within cross-functional settings
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and people leadership skills

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this role is $168,350.00 - $218,860.00 per year
