Department Overview
McDonald’s is seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our dynamic Software Deployment team. In this role, you will be responsible for planning, testing, implementing and managing the software deployment processes across multiple environments for point-of-sale, security and back office applications. Additionally, your project management skills and technical expertise will ensure seamless integration and optimal performance of our software solutions to over 300,000 devices. As the deployment lead for technology, you will have many opportunities to impact the experience of our 13,500+ restaurants and the consumers who love our brand.
This role requires hybrd presence at McDonald’s Headquarters (MHQ) in Chicago.
Responsibilities
Deployment Management:
Manage detailed plans to ensure smooth deployment of software solutions to restaurants, aligning with both technological needs and business goals.
Oversee remote deployment processes, keeping all stakeholders informed and engaged throughout the lifecycle.
Act as the point of contact for deployment plans.
Manage scope and resources to ensure timely, cost-effective deployments.
Assess the impact of new issues on deployment plans and communicate changes efficiently.
Provide feedback on prioritization and capacity to direct manager.
Monitor the deployment success KPI’s and advise on pace change when needed.
Supplier/Partner Engagement and Coordination:
Build strong relationships and collaboration through effective communication between teams within US Technology, Global Technology, and vendors.
Build and nurture strong partnerships with suppliers to ensure alignment and collaboration with deployment objectives.
Ensure vendors’ performance meets deployment timelines through clear expectation setting, communication, and one-team mindset.
Risk Management:
Assess stage gate and testing requirements at initiation to ensure deployment criteria are met.
Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them proactively.
Drive continuous improvement through documentation and sharing of common risks and prevention strategies.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- 3+ years’ experience in deployment, technology updates and strong project management skills.
- Proficiency with tools such as Jira, Confluence, Smart Sheets, and PowerBI.
- Extensive experience in retail technology, particularly in operations within a highly distributed setting.
- Demonstrated leader – you love to develop talent and lead diverse teams.
- Strong communicator with ability to explain technical information to audiences at different levels of technical proficiency.
- Early adopter – change excites you and you bring others along on the change journey.
- Data-driven decision maker who loves to dive into root cause analysis.
- Analytical and structure thinker with an eye for detail. In the phase of chaos, you create process.
- One team mindset – you are a team player who understands that your success is reliant on the success of others. You hold yourself and your teammates accountable.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience in Restaurant or Service Industry Tech, a plus.
- Strong technical background and PMP certification, a plus.

The expected salary range for this role is $112,860 - $143,900.00 per year
