Department Overview

The U.S. Franchising Strategy department aligns the McDonald’s system to have the right franchisees in the right restaurants, helping maximize company and Owner/Operator profitability, customer satisfaction, sales, and guest counts. The Standards, Policies & Reporting Team ensures excellence, in the partnership with Field Franchising Team, Field Offices, and other MHQ partners, in providing the tools, policies, resources, insights & analytics related to Strategic Franchising.

The Franchising Manager – New Term Strategy plays a critical role in aligning with the Field Franchising Team on long-term plans, managing new term review processes, updating franchising systems, providing education on franchising principles, overseeing multiple Field Offices’ processes, and coaching one direct report.  This role executes new term franchise offers for franchisee organizations across the U.S. and provides perspective on franchisee organizations and restaurant performance, ensuring franchising policies, measurement tools, and guidelines are applied appropriately and consistently, while supporting the broader franchising strategies of U.S. Franchising and Field Offices.

 

Duties

In addition to quickly developing a strong understanding of McDonald’s franchising policies and procedures, the principal accountabilities will include but are not limited to:

Strategy

  • Partners with Field Franchising to facilitate the development and ongoing execution of Field Office long-term franchising plans.
  • Contributes to processes for approving new franchisees and documenting franchise transactions.
  • Leads new term review processes requiring sound judgment, confidentiality, and a consistent approach to franchising matters.
  • Supports ongoing development and updates to franchising systems technology, including reports and insights that inform strategic franchising decisions.
  • Partners with Field Franchising and Field Offices to monitor whether franchisee organizations continue to consistently meet National Franchising Standards.
  • Assist with the implementation and analysis of SBO transactions from the initial phase through post transaction reviews.

Consulting, Influence, and Stakeholder Partnership

  • Provides education and guidance to the U.S. Franchising Strategy team and Field Offices on the application and administration of franchising principles, policies, and guidelines.
  • Influences U.S. Franchising leadership and Field Office leadership on franchising matters, including assessment of compliance with National Franchising Standards.
  • Participates in cross-functional teams that provide insights, analytics, and education to drive process change.

Administration/Coordination

  • Oversees and manages new term processes for multiple Field Offices.
  • Prepares analysis and collaborates with stakeholders and partners in advance of meetings with Field Offices and MHQ Leadership.
  • Prepares letters and notifications in a timely manner and calibrates with Business Counsel.
  • Maintains systematic tracking and reporting of decisions.

People Leadership

  • Coaches and supports career development for one direct report.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years of experience working with franchised restaurant operations and franchising policies.
  • 5+ years of experience leading, collaborating with, influencing, and working across multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Understanding of McDonald’s operations and franchising policies preferred.
  • High level of strategic focus, enterprise perspective, and tactical ability to deliver results.
  • Embraces change and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and executive-ready communication skills.
  • Experience articulating and presenting issues, recommendations, and solutions.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and presentation skills.

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this role is $101,437.00 - $126,797.00 per year
