Department Overview

The Manager of Strategy and Planning will be responsible for driving cohesion and transparency within the global Supply Chain function. Approximately 80% of the role will focus on strategy and alignment, bringing the team’s strategy to life across various touchpoints like team town halls, global supplier webcasts, global supply chain leadership team meetings and global supplier advisory council touchpoints, as well as channels like newsletters, intranet, etc. The remaining (approximately 20%) will focus on communication initiatives and deliverables. This blended scope equals a full-time workload, requiring the ability to balance strategic priorities with effective stakeholder engagement, particularly as it relates to the function’s strategy, planning and alignment process. The role supports key meetings, events, and leadership forums throughout the year. In addition to specific strategy and planning responsibilities, the Manager will collaborate cross-functionally on ad-hoc projects to support the broader organization.

The Manager will be a part of the Strategy and Planning team within the Global Supply Chain team within the Restaurant Experience function (REX) and report to the Director of Strategy and Planning within Global Supply Chain. REX includes departments such as Global Supply Chain, Global Operations, Global Restaurant Development and Franchising, Global Delivery, Global Restaurant Design, and Product Category Teams (Beef, Chicken and Beverages/Desserts).

Duties

  • Lead the formulation of executive updates related to GSC strategy and key initiatives. This content will support the Global Chief Supply Chain Officer in articulating the function’s strategy and progress
    • In partnership with the Director of Strategy and Planning, lead project plan creation (i.e., inputs, outputs, meeting cadences) and execution (i.e, templates, updates on initiatives as well as communication) to coordinate final GSC strategic plan across GSC colleagues 
    • Support the execution of phase planning and annual budget planning, driving continuous improvement of strategic planning process for GSC based on updated direction from GSCLT, REX SPA team, Corporate Strategy, and takeaways from prior years 
  • Lead the content and execution for function-wide meetings, including ownership of quarterly functional Town Halls, quarterly global supplier webcasts and other touchpoints as needed (this includes project management, creating and managing workback plans, managing stakeholders, coaching presenters on their written and verbal content, internal approvals, scheduling meetings and points of integration, budget, etc.)
  • Digital Platforms – Manage and update any internal communication platforms, ensuring content owned by the GSC Strategy & Planning team is accessible and up-to-date. This includes things like @mcd, Poppulo, any Teams or SharePoint resources for GSC
  • Serve as a key partner to the Global Supply Chain People Partner– ensuring people-related content is communicated timely and progress toward team engagement is occurring (Officer Coffee Chats, etc.)
  • Own strategy and execution of Global Chief Supply Chain Officer’s social media presence (particularly LinkedIn)
  • Partner with the Director, help plan and execute Global Supply Chain Leadership Team (GSCLT) and Global Supplier Advisory Council (GSAC) touchpoints
  • In partnership with the Director and the Restaurant Experience Strategy team, innovate on new approaches and procedures surrounding GSC, seeking efficiencies, new ideas and ultimately, effectiveness

  • Assist leadership in building cases and support for ad hoc projects and initiatives 
  • Support on GSCLT special projects as needed 

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in Supply Chain, Communications, Business, Marketing, or another related field
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Strategy, Planning, Communications, Operations, Alignment, Program Management or related experience; global experience a plus
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite; especially PowerPoint, SmartSheet and Excel (for easier data collection and synthesis) and experience with an email marketing tool like Poppulo or Mailchimp
  • Strong organizational and project management skills; ability to own a project plan and proactively execute against the plan
  • Ability to quickly synthesize complex business information and translate it into clear, compelling messages for diverse audiences (including across levels and geographies)
  • Experience in stakeholder management (senior leadership a plus); ability to collaborate with senior leadership to gather input, build consensus, and drive alignment
  • Strong ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects and requests simultaneously in a deadline-focused, ambiguous yet dynamic environment with constant change
  • Creative thinker - experience in concept to execution of new ideas
  • Proactive and solution-oriented problem solver, strong attention to detail, self-starter, and great teammate
  • Curiosity and drive to develop a deep knowledge of the McDonald’s business and System

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this role is $112,860.00 - $143,900.00 per year
