Department Overview

U.S. National Operations & IPD – Business Integration, Governance Program Manager

  • McDonald’s continues to execute the business plan of Accelerating the Arches, which is focused on staying ahead of what our customers want and realizing further growth potential within our “M-C-D” pillars. The Business Integration team is at the center of this strategy, actively supporting the implementation of key initiatives across the U.S. organization. Serving as "stewards of value," the team works closely with senior leadership to ensure initiatives are focused on delivering the greatest benefit for our customers.
  • The team works in partnership with the Prioritization Office and within the larger U.S. National Operations IPD (Initiative Planning and Deployment) department.  Our focus within the governance process is GSET (Gold Standard Execution Team) and RXR (Restaurant Experience Review) by which we work through solving how and when approved initiatives are deployed into the U.S. System.

Responsibilities

Key accountabilities for the Business Integration team include:

  • Supporting the development of robust project plans and roadmaps for strategic, restaurant-impacting initiatives
  • Cross-functional integration and coordination of assigned initiatives, programs, and processes
  • Partnering to develop initiative test and launch plans that enable gold standard execution
  • Ensuring internal governance processes are followed
  • Facilitating leadership discussions on strategic portfolio planning
  • Tracking initiative progress against defined timeline and milestones
  • Holding initiative owners accountable to the internal governance processes
  • Managing regular exception-based reporting to leadership

Key responsibilities of the role include:

Overall expectations (the “how”):

  • Act as a strategic owner of process to all stakeholders involved in the governance processes
  • GSET = Gold Standard Execution team; initiative stage gate governance process
  • RXR = Restaurant Experience Review; Operational process for initiatives during the development phase
  • Partnering with the Prioritization Office and Tech teams to execute the process
  • Enhancing process based on internal stakeholder feedback and opportunities identified
  • Train and coach initiative leads/PMs on sequencing and content development for project updates and approvals within the governance process
  • Encourage cross-functional communication and alignment at all levels to help drive productive discussions between and during governance meetings. Escalate issues as needed to help drive efficiency.
  • Support GSET Test Calendar and Launch Calendar development and maintenance through alignment with the process and key stakeholders.
  • Supports maintenance of IPD Snapshot (detailed monthly report on initiative pipeline)

Activities and accountabilities (the “what”):

  • Own sequencing and alignment on project updates/approvals in partnership with Governance counterparts and initiative leads during the governance process
  • Coach cross functional team leads to meet governance process expectations
  • Maintain alignment with Business Integration PMs/leadership on projects, risks, timelines
  • Facilitate leadership meetings and clearly communicate meeting expectations/next steps (in advance and via recap)
  • Facilitate training for project leads and leadership to ensure process understanding and alignment of process
  • Support internal governance processes to enable gold standard execution and running great restaurants
  • Leads cross-functional initiative governance processes with integrity
  • Key stakeholders include Initiative Owners (Project Leads), Business Integration PMs, USNO Leadership, Prioritization Office Leads, Tech Governance Leads, U.S. Functional/Department Leads, Owner/Operator (McDonald’s Franchisee) Leadership and Field Office Leadership

Qualifications

  • Diverse PM methodology experience (agile/waterfall)
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex initiatives
  • Proven ability to manage all phases of the project life cycle
  • Strong leadership, people skills and organizational skills including attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral)
  • Advanced Microsoft Suite experience (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams) and Smartsheet experience preferred
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Project Mgmt. Professional (PMP®) Certified preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, or related field

​The expected salary range for this role is $112,860 - $143,900 per year
