Department Overview
The Detection Engineering team within Global Cyber Security enables threat detection, system integration, and response automation across McDonald’s digital ecosystem. The Infrastructure & Integration pillar designs and manages log pipelines, RBAC, and security architecture to support detection and response operations.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
The Senior Analyst – Detection Engineering designs and maintains log source integrations, RBAC controls, and telemetry infrastructure supporting SIEM and SOAR operations. The role serves as a technical lead on onboarding and troubleshooting efforts and mentors junior staff. Architects automation workflows and response logic to streamline security operations and reduce analyst workload. This role provides technical leadership for SOAR integrations, response playbooks, and system-to-system orchestration.

Leads Detection development, from use case intake and design through validation and production deployment.
Responsibilities:
- Build and maintain infrastructure supporting log ingestion.
- Develop and enforce RBAC policies across security platforms.
- Collaborate on onboarding new log sources.
- Drive reliability and standardization across telemetry pipelines.
- Support architectural changes and incident resolution.
- Design and implement SOAR-based automation workflows.
- Lead the development of response playbooks across toolsets.
- Define standards for automation reliability and modularity.
- Integrate APIs across detection, ticketing, and endpoint systems.
- Lead development of detection logic across multiple data sources.
- Map detection content to MITRE ATT&CK and threat models.
- Design frameworks for detection testing and validation.
- Review detection coverage gaps and define technical improvements.
- Mentor engineers on automation, detection logic, tuning, and optimization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- 5+ years of experience with log management, SIEM/SOAR, and platform integration.
- Familiarity with auth/RBAC and API-based data ingest.
- Bash scripting and Python
- Linux and Windows experience
- Incident Handling experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to cloud telemetry sources (e.g., GCP, AWS).
- Proficiency with automation/scripting.
- Team mentorship experience.

Salary Range
The expected salary range for this role is $129,800.00 - $165,490.00 per year
