Department Overview

The Senior Director of Engineering Execution will be a key leader of McDonald’s Technology team. In this critical role, you will lead a centralized and matrixed organization of engineers in the US, Mexico City and Hyderabad (future) who develop custom solutions for McDonald’s Consumer and Restaurant platforms.  You will allocate and direct engineers to deliver on our biggest and most important technology initiatives. Additionally, this role will define and drive adoption of engineering processes and standards that will drive quality, efficiency, and speed to market for our    for products at the scale and pace of McDonald’s.  

Duties

  • Continue to grow our internal engineering capability for the Consumer and Restaurant platforms, executing on our insourcing strategy which is growing our resources in US, Mexico City (and Hyderabad in the future). 
  • Help identify and support the development of the next generation of technology leaders for the organization.
  • Support the establishment of technical career paths within the organization that enable engineers to develop and grow in their discipline.
  • Provide strong engineering leadership to solve problems and remove barriers for our teams
  • Lead and direct the work for our engineering function which allocates shared engineering talent to progress our goals on our Consumer and Restaurant product.
  • Lead all aspects of the levers that govern quality, efficiency and velocity around our engineering initiatives from a process, performance, and execution standpoint.
  • Adopt and move the organization (technical, non-technical, and vendor teams) to an agile methodology
  • Drive the assessment and adoption of AI, Gen AI and Agentic AI tools and SDLC processes to improve the quality and efficiency of engineering teams.
  • Establish the right metrics to measure and drive improvements in the efficiency and quality of our engineering function.
  • Build a culture of data driven and customer-first decision making, providing the organization with visual quality metrics that pinpoint the health of execution levers and processes including the delivery of projects.
  • Be the spokesperson and present on execution and delivery initiative updates, as well as engineering execution achievements; handling all of communication of the strategic plan to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Drive the establishment and adoption of a robust SDLC process that ensures the development of high-quality software products that meet the needs of our global customers in a timely manner.
  • Champion engineering excellence by establishing and promoting of processes  in software development and code quality across all teams.
  • Drive a robust testing strategy that ensures high reliability, scalability, and performance of our platforms and applications through automated testing, continuous integration, and quality assurance processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science or related major.
  • Experience leading a technology transformation in a large, corporate, and matrixed environment.
  • Experience building and scaling an engineering organization
  • 5+ years of experience managing large (50+) engineering teams
  • 10+ years of experience working with digital customer-facing products working and agile development teams.
  • You will have a project management mentality along with a strong strategic and analytics approach.
  • Led teams in the scope of software development process, technology architecture, back end monitoring tools like New Relic and Kibana, A/B testing tools, Tableau and other data reporting clients.
  • Tactical experience as a developer working across multiple languages and products.
