Department Overview

The Commercial Product & Platform team develops global technology products and platforms that delight our customers and enable placing orders to restaurants reliably and effectively.

Duties

This role will lead the design and architecture of our Global Web Application (McDonald’s new e-commerce website), ensuring they align with product vision and goals, scalability, and performance requirements. In this role, you'll work with cross-functional teams, such as product managers, designers, solution architects, developers, and external vendors, to define and implement a robust global web strategy. This Sr. Tech Lead will report to the Director Technical Lead over Global Web.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technology leader to help craft the transformation and define the technology direction of the Global Web Application.

 

Job Duties: 

  • Lead a team of React/NextJS and C# engineers dedicated to the Global Web Application product by providing technical guidance during agile sprint ceremonies and day to day interactions.
  • Responsible for helping the team design and estimate implementation tasks, lead implementation work streams, and mentor junior team members. 
  • Provide direction on architecture approach, application implementation guidance, and design decisions to be flexible to accommodate current business needs and future changing requirements, ensuring minimal complexity with code and design.
  • Partner with key stakeholders, such as Product Management, Solution Architecture, Data & Analytics, Cloud Ops, and Security, to align technology strategies with product roadmaps. It involves defining platform architecture, setting technical requirements, setting quality and scalability metrics, guiding decisions on architecture, system design, and technical strategy, including cloud platform services, and assuring the technology stack supports the product objectives.
  • Participate in release preparation, planning, and deployment.
  • Support the hiring and professional development of engineers in partnership with the Delivery Office as needed.
  • You will also be responsible for the quality of the deliverables and lead your team in web standards, code reviews, product demos, and other presentations to develop your leadership skills.

Qualifications

  • Requires minimum Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or related technology field.
  • Requires 5+ years of progressively responsible IT leadership experience.
  • Requires 2+ years experience with NextJS application framework
  • Experience leading the development and implementation of scalable and high-performance web applications using Next.js, React, and related front-end technologies.
  • Experience with Cloud Native technologies (Amazon Web Services preferred, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform).
  • Experience using the following software development tools
    • Centralized version control: GitHub or BitBucket (GitHub preferred)
    • CI/CD: GitHub Actions, Jenkins or something similar
  • Well-versed in key architecture concepts and principles, including Domain-Driven Design, Microservices, REST APIs, etc.
  • Experience working in an agile environment.
  • Experience dealing with the security and compliance side of software development.
  • Experienced with owning quality and best practices in automation and testing.
  • Experienced with building out and maintaining metrics, alarms, and monitoring services.
  • (Bonus) Knowledge of web content management systems like Adobe Experience Manager.

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this role is $149,260.00 - $190,310.00 per year
