Department Overview

The Senior Manager, Learning and Development will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the learning and development strategy for McDonald’s Global People function. This role will lead the strategy, design, planning, execution, and continuous improvement of the People L&D agenda (People Academy) —an initiative to build capabilities, foster growth, and cultivate a culture of learning across the Global People team. The Senior Manager will collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure the Academy aligns with strategic priorities and delivers measurable impact.

This role reports to the Director, Learning and Development with a dotted line into Senior Director, Corporate People Partner while closely partnering with the Global People Leadership Team, including the Global Chief People Officer.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

    • Lead the development and execution of the People L&D strategy (People Academy) in alignment with the broader People function goals and People Talent Strategy.
    • Develop operational plans and timelines for Academy initiatives, requiring cross-functional input.

Program Design & Delivery

    • Design and implement blended learning programs using the 70-20-10 framework.
    • Lead the development of onboarding, upskilling, and reskilling experiences tailored to the People function.
    • Ensure programs are inclusive, scalable, and aligned with McDonald’s values and leadership competencies.

Stakeholder Engagement

    • Partner with subject matter experts, People leaders, and learners to co-create relevant learning experiences.
    • Communicate effectively across levels, influencing adoption and engagement with Academy offerings.

Measurement & Continuous Improvement

    • Monitor program effectiveness and value through a standardized learner evaluation, data, and business outcomes.
    • Iterate and improve learning experiences based on insights and evolving needs.

Vendor & Partner Management

    • Manage relationships with external learning providers and internal teams (e.g., Global People, Transformation).
    • Ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with strategic goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 6–8 years of experience in learning and development, talent management, or organizational development.
  • Proven ability to manage projects with moderate complexity and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience designing and delivering learning programs using modern methodologies.
  • Strong business acumen and insight, with the ability to translate strategic business goals into appropriate development and talent programs that balance the evolving priorities of the organization
  • Ability to influence practices and approaches across teams and levels.
  • Excellent coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Experience in HR transformation or capability building is.

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this role is $129,800.00 - $165,490.00 per year
