Department Overview
This opportunity is part of the Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations team (GTIO), where our mission is to deliver modern and relevant technology that supports the way McDonald’s works. We provide best-in-class foundational technology products and services including Global Networking, Cloud, End User Computing, and IT Service Management. It’s our goal to always provide an engaging, relevant, and simple experience for our customers.
The Cloud Platform Sr. Manager role is part of the Edge ecosystem team in Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations. The role reports to the Director, Edge Solution Delivery and is responsible for supporting and maturing the Edge Platform in support of the overall Edge Solution Delivery technical vision and strategy within the Edge program ensuring alignment with other peripheral engineering initiatives with business objectives.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced technology leader to help shape the transformation of infrastructure and operations products and services to the entire McDonalds environment.
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Own and manage a strategically important technology product or suite of products with significant business impact, including defining the product vision and engineering roadmap.
- Drive the Edge product roadmap in collaboration with Google and internal engineering teams.
- Guide and influence engineering teams, fostering innovation and disruption in strategically important domains.
- Oversee Edge platform engineering, including tools, processes, and operational support.
- Lead automation initiatives for infrastructure provisioning, configuration management, and deployment pipelines using modern DevOps tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins).
- Champion Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles, CI/CD pipelines, and containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Collaborate cross-functionally to streamline workflows and improve the software release lifecycle.
- Ensure modularity, observability, and maintainability while delivering scalable Edge platform solutions.
- Lead technical implementation and pilot deployments, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
- Oversee project planning and delivery within scope, budget, and timeline constraints.
- Define and enforce engineering standards for resilience, scalability, and performance.
- Maintain a strategic focus with hands-on leadership where appropriate.
- Partner with business leaders and architects to assess long-term viability of systems/products from both business and technology perspectives.
- Identify core problems and opportunities, driving solutions that impact multiple teams and markets.
- Remove bottlenecks and enable autonomy, encouraging proactive identification of gaps and opportunities.
- Coach and mentor team members, including engineers and technical product managers, to refine capabilities and close skill gaps.
- Accountable for career progression and development of the engineering team, including managing the yearly performance cycle (goal setting, feedback, evaluations).
- Own “Deployment Assets” and “Shared Infrastructure” capabilities within the Edge platform engineering function.
Qualifications
Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
- 10+ years of technical product management or relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree or 8+ years relevant experience with a master’s degree.
- Experience leading technical teams that manage a strategically important product and/or a suite of products.
- Experience managing platform teams with maturing engineering talent
- Experience in influencing senior executives (VPs, SVP, CxO) and setting expectations for major cross-functional initiatives.
Basic Qualifications

- Proven analytical and quantitative skills; ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions, develop project arguments, and measure success.

- Excellent presentation and writing skills, with the ability to translate theory into practical application.
- Understand customer centricity and lead products with that approach.
- Naturally exude team building, motivating, and conflict-resolving qualities.
- Associate level certifications for GCP, AWS, or Azure (or willingness to achieve certification)
Preferred Qualifications
- Product Integration experience.
- Experience leading Platform engineering teams for large, international, organizations.
- Professional level certification for GCP, AWS, or Azure

Salary Range
The expected salary range for this role is $152,678.00 - $190,847.00 per year
