Department Overview
This opportunity is part of the Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations team (GTIO), where our mission is to deliver modern and relevant technology that supports the way McDonald’s works. We provide outstanding foundational technology products and services including Global Networking, Cloud, End User Computing, and IT Service Management. It’s our goal to always provide an engaging, relevant, and simple experience for our customers.
The Cloud DevSecOps Architect role is part of the Cloud Infrastructure and Operations team in Global Technology Infrastructure & Operations. The role collaborates with the Director of Enterprise DevSecOps Platform and is responsible for supporting, migrating, automation and optimization of software development and deployment process, and maturing the Enterprise DevSecOps program. The Cloud DevSecOps Engineer will work closely with software developers, operations engineers, and other team members to ensure that the software delivery process is efficient, secure, and scalable. You will support the Corporate, Digital, Data, Restaurant, and Market application and product teams by efficiently and effectively delivering DevOps standards and services.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership & Architecture
- Lead the management, architectural design, and solutioning of Developer Experience, Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) processes across large-scale technology environments.
- Drive proof-of-concepts and conduct technical feasibility studies to align DevOps strategies with evolving business needs.
- Provide strategic direction to internal teams and external vendors on DevSecOps tool standardization and engineering support.
2. Cloud Infrastructure & Automation
- Lead the automation of cloud environment provisioning using pipeline engineering principles and tools such as Terraform, Helm, Chef, Puppet, and Ansible.
- Build and maintain reusable pipeline templates for the automated deployment of cloud infrastructure and application code.
- Design and support high-quality pipeline automation workflows across hybrid and cloud-native platforms, with a strong emphasis on GCP-based architectures and migration strategies.
3. GCP Migration & Optimization
- Architect and oversee the migration of workloads and services to Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring scalability, security, and cost-efficiency.
- Collaborate with platform and security teams to align GCP implementations with enterprise standards and compliance requirements.
- Continuously evaluate and optimize GCP services to support evolving business and technical needs.
4. Pipeline Engineering & DevSecOps Enablement
- Automate and monitor the software development and deployment lifecycle to ensure reliability, speed, and security.
- Collaborate with software developers and operations engineers to continuously improve delivery pipelines and reduce friction.
- Keep up with the latest DevSecOps practices and technologies to support continuous improvement and innovation.
5. Mentorship & Team Development
- Mentor and coach senior engineers and architects, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
- Encourage consistent architecture design alignment throughout various teams and areas.
- Identify and develop future technical leaders within the organization.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field or relevant experience.

10+ years of Information Technology experience for a large technology company, preferably in a platform team.

8+ years hands-on Cloud DevOps pipeline for automating, building, and deploying microservice applications, APIs, and non-container artifacts.

5+ years working with Cloud technologies with good knowledge of IaaS and PaaS offerings in AWS & GCP, GitHub, Jenkins, GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Helm Charts, Harness and Artifactory or similar DevOps CI/CD tools.

Experience with observability tools like Datadog, New Relic and open source (O11y) observability ecosystem (Prometheus, Grafana, Jaeger)

Advanced knowledge of "AWS" Platform preferably 3+ years AWS/Kubernetes experience or container-based technology.

Experience working on Code Quality SAST and DAST tools like SonarQube/Sonar Cloud, Veracode, Checkmarx, and Snyk, developing scripts or automating tasks using languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, Perl, Ruby, etc.

Salary Range
The expected salary range for this role is $190,310- $231,250 per year
