Department Overview

Global Operations helps our global system Run Great Restaurants and is part of the broader Restaurant Experience Team (REX).

Duties

The Global Operations Communications Supervisor has a critical role. You will be executing and delivering high quality communications to varying audiences to support Operations and Restaurant Experience priorities. You are required to develop key strategic communication in support of the Global Operations team (e.g., team meetings, leadership events and communications, key project communications planning and activation) and global markets (newsletters, website and webcasts).

In addition to managing the day-to-day implementation of department communications, you will also collaborate with cross-functional teams on ad-hoc projects to build strategic communication approaches for initiatives which support the overall department strategy.

 

The Global Operations Communications Supervisor role is based in McDonald’s headquarters in Chicago, and reports to the Senior Manager, REX Global Operations Strategy and Standards.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute creative Global Operations strategic messages in partnership with Global Operations Leadership, team members and cross-functional partners
  • Develop and activate proactive communication strategies and plans to support broader operations goals on key initiatives
  • Collaborate, advise, and assist cross-functional teams as they develop messages, plans, and logistics for communication activities
  • Manage, build and evolve the strategic direction of Global Operations communications channels (website, newsletters, people announcements)
  • Support collaboration and change management within Global Operations as well as cross-functional teams, Segment teams and Market teams
  • Develop and monitor mechanisms to continually gather feedback from key stakeholders to adjust communication and change management strategies where needed
  • Build and support broad Operations network to leverage communication opportunities
  • Create story boards, scripts, and other content for informational and training videos
  • In partnership with the Senior Manager, innovate on new approaches for Global Operations, seeking efficiencies, new ideas and ultimately, effectiveness

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; a strong editor who easily simplifies complex messages with a strong attention to detail
  • Being comfortable with ambiguity, and skilled in defining and bringing structure to messaging to provide clarity
  • Applying knowledge and experience to develop strategic points of view
  • Influencing those outside direct line of control, with skills and ability to manage upwards and work with senior management, other business functions, agency/vendor partners, market partners
  • Has in-depth knowledge of communication strategies, tools, and vehicles, and experience with an email marketing tool like Poppulo
  • Creative thinking: can materialize concept to execution of new ideas and is proactive and solution-oriented in problem solving
  • Having strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-focused, ambiguous, yet dynamic environment with constant change
  • Maintaining high levels of self-motivation, holds oneself accountable, with proven time management skills to manage project timelines, lead business-critical project teams, proactively execute against plans and deliver on expectations
  • Confidence to bring fresh perspectives, new ideas, and creative approaches
  • Operating successfully as a team player and working through priorities with a positive, flexible attitude, and being committed to team growth through shared learning and communication
  • Possessing a keen ability and willingness to learn and ask questions, and has curiosity and drive to develop a deep knowledge of the McDonald’s business and System

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience in Communications, Alignment, Planning, Project Management or related experience; global experience a plus
  • Degree in Communications, Organizational Change, or another related field
  • Excellent in communicative English, with strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills
  • Microsoft Suite proficiency; especially PowerPoint, Share Point, SmartSheet, Google Analytics and Excel (for easier data collection and synthesis)

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this role is $75,700.00 - $94,620.00 per year
