Department Overview

The US Technology Deployment Director will be responsible for product activation, change control, and deployment related to consumer, restaurant, and company platforms. This role involves leading the deployment and change control processes for software and data configurations related to new menu items, promotional setups, and additional feature enablement within the US market! The Director will ensure the smooth integration and functionality of technology solutions, promote teamwork across cross-functional teams, and maintain alignment with business goals.

This role requires on-site presence at McDonald’s Headquarters (MHQ) in Chicago.

Responsibilites and Accountabilities

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Set department priorities based on business strategy and resource capacity; ensure alignment of technology strategies with overall business objectives.
  • Train and mentor direct reports, fostering an environment of trust and accountability.
  • Drive a collaborative and high-performance culture within the department.
  • Build strong relationships and collaboration through effective communication between teams within US Technology, Global Technology, and vendors.
  • Track and manage internal and vendor staffing, including new resource requirements, open roles, organizational structure tracking, and capacity management.

Deployment Strategy Oversight:

  • Accountable for the seamless deployment of software solutions to US-based restaurants, ensuring alignment with both technological requirements and business objectives.
  • Set strategy for remote deployment processes, ensuring that all collaborators are advised and engaged throughout the deployment lifecycle.
  • Share a point of view across deployment wave planning and coordination, technical expertise, risk management, quality assurance, and collaborator communication.
  • Act as point of escalation with suppliers to resolve major issues or delays that arise during the deployment process.
  • Review stage gate and testing requirements at initiation to ensure proper deployment criteria are met.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to address them proactively.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Collaborate with Data Insights team to identify specific metrics and key performance indicators required for a comprehensive understanding of team and product performance.
  • Use data-driven insights to make informed decisions and drive effectiveness and efficiency
  • Analyze performance data to proactively identify risks and areas of opportunity.
  • Monitor vendor performance and accountability.

Communications and Stakeholder Management:

  • Effectively communicate and stay aligned with senior leadership, restaurant operations, and other collaborators regarding technology strategies and deployments.
  • Establish and champion strong connections with key collaborators to guarantee alignment and backing for initiatives.
  • Present sophisticated technical information in a clear and understandable manner, ensuring alignment across all levels of the organization.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams, including operations, finance, and marketing, to integrate technology solutions, minimizing disruptions.
  • Develop strong relationships with suppliers to ensure teamwork and alignment with project goals.
  • Deliver concise, compelling, data-driven business recommendations to update the leadership team and decision-makers on project status and progress.

Governance, Financial Management and compliance:

  • Establish and maintain governance frameworks for technology adoption and use, ensuring consistency and compliance across all locations.
  • Supervise the change control process, ensuring all changes are documented, reviewed, and approved in accordance with set guidelines.
  • Own team budget and continuously look for opportunities to drive efficiency within the team.
  • Collaborate with US Technology senior leaders to ensure all agreed-upon work is appropriately funded and planned for.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science / Engineering
  • 10+ years of technically focused experience
  • Proven ability to drive process improvements and act as a change agent.
  • History of leading workstreams of large-scale projects and multi-functional initiatives to success, on time, and within budget.
  • Experience in retail technology with a focus on operations in a highly distributed environment.
  • Broad experience across the IT SDLC, including development, deployment, and support, with multidisciplinary expertise in financial, vendor management, communications, and achieving results in a global organization.
  • Ability to build and leverage talent, inspire teamwork, and develop high-performing teams.

Strong ability to partner, negotiate and influence peers and other technology leaders, leaders from other functions, and owner/operators.

Salary Range

Salary Ranges-$168,350.00 - $218,860.00
