The McDonald’s Switzerland IT Operations Team is responsible for the deployment and operation of restaurant and corporate technology across Switzerland. Our scope includes point-of-sale systems, back-office applications, digital solutions, and highly available infrastructure supporting restaurant operations. We are looking for a Technology Consultant to strengthen our restaurant-focused operations. This role acts as a key bridge between restaurant operations, external support partners, and internal IT teams, ensuring reliable technology performance across the estate. This is not a pure technical role, but requires a strong operational mindset, a good foundation in IT, and a high willingness to learn and grow in a fast-evolving environment.

Area of Responsibility
Restaurant Technology & Support
- Act as Level 3 support for restaurant technologies, with a strong focus on:
- Point-of-sale (POS) systems used in restaurants
- Back-office systems used for restaurant management (e.g. inventory, reporting, configuration tools)
- Own and manage complex escalations from restaurants and support partners through to resolution
- Perform root cause analysis and define sustainable corrective actions
Partner Management & Enablement
- Train, guide, and support external service providers (e.g., field service partners, service desks)
- Ensure partners are equipped to deliver high-quality, consistent support to restaurants
- Define and maintain certification frameworks outlining the required knowledge and skills for support partners
Knowledge & Process Management
- Maintain and continuously improve the knowledge base used by support partners
- Standardize and document support processes, troubleshooting steps, and operational procedures
- Drive improvements in the restaurant support experience, including self-service capabilities
Operations & Incident Management
- Ensure effective handling of major incidents and business-critical situations impacting restaurants
- Monitor service performance and identify areas of improvement
- Apply best practices in incident, problem, and escalation management
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as a key interface between restaurant operations, IT teams, and support partners
- Translate technical topics into clear, actionable communication for non-technical audiences
Experience & Knowledge
Essential
- ~5 years of experience in IT, technology support, or a related field
- Solid general IT knowledge and strong troubleshooting mindset
- Capable analysis skills with ability to provide a “big-picture” view and grasping ground level details as necessary
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
- High motivation to learn quickly and develop technical expertise
- English (Written and Verbal), French or German (Written and Verbal), Optionally Italian (Written and Verbal)
Highly Valued
- Experience in restaurant operations, retail, or hospitality environments
- Experience supporting POS systems or business-critical operational applications
- Experience working with external service providers or support organizations
Technical Knowledge & Skills (Good foundation expected)
Good understanding of:
- End-user devices and peripherals
- Windows environments
- Networking fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, VLANs, etc.)
- Active directory fundamentals (all objects, GPO, security)
- IT service management fundamentals (incident, escalation, problem management)
- Basic scripting and system administration concepts:
- Understanding and executing PowerShell and command-line operations
- Using standard commands (e.g. service checks, system queries, device reboots)
- Familiarity with task scheduling tools (e.g. Windows Task Scheduler or similar)
General awareness of:
- Security principles and endpoint protection
- Operating systems (Windows 10 and 11, Windows 10 LTSB)
- DevOps methodology
- ITIL principles
