The Opportunity

We currently have an opportunity for an Operations Consultant supporting the McOpCo Ontario market. The role will provide leadership, coaching, and direction to their McOpCo team to maximize the long-term sales and profit potential of each restaurant. This role has the opportunity to truly impact the business through building positive business relationships with McOpCo General Managers and Restaurant Department Managers. Key stakeholders include General Managers, Restaurant Department Mangers, Shift Managers, Operations Manager, and our valued guests. This is an existing role.

Duties

In addition to following McDonald’s policies and procedures, principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

 

People – Building Block and Talent Proficiency

  • Demonstrate and reinforce leadership behaviors and basic people minimums to gain and grow commitment from all restaurant staff.
  • Work with General Managers to ensure staffing tool is completed quarterly that ensures all restaurants are fully staffed to cultivate a people first culture that will maximize business results.
  • Enforces and educates all restaurant employees on all HR policies, labour laws and safety & security procedures.
  • Ensures there are active BEST activities that that are designed to enhance strengths and improve performance gaps.
  • Completes and presents performance reviews based on defined goals and objectives for each McOpCo General Manager twice per year.
  • Monitor and encourage a strong talent pipeline through active succession planning and strategic talent placement within restaurant teams to maximize business performance.
  • Regularly conducts panel interviews with top talent prior to promotions being made and involved with external interviews to mine potential management candidates.

 

Running Great Restaurants – Execution Proficiency

  • Protects the McDonald’s brand by ensuring restaurants meet McDonald’s QSC and locally legislated Quality, Safety and Sanitation standards.
  • Educates General Managers and Department Managers on critical restaurant systems that produce consistently high levels of QSC.
  • Ensures that restaurants properly execute national/regional promotions and coordinates implementation and execution of new products and processes consistently within their restaurants.
  • Support visits (CFV/RGRV/PPFV) completed as per McOpCo PACE cycle expectations (or more often, as needed) to ensure all McDonald’s standards are in place.
  • Monthly restaurant support visits conducted; focused on key Business Plan pillars and improving 5th quintile restaurants.

 

Business Results – Strategic Proficiency

  • Influence and hold General Managers accountable for creating a positive work environment 24/7 in each restaurant.
  • Support each restaurant to build a Velocity Growth Plan each year with focus on stretch targets and beating last year that is aligned with your market’s priorities and the McOpCo Velocity Growth Plan for performance and profit.
  • Uses all informational resources available such as: PACE, financial reports, Clearview, GEMS, etc., to identify potential sales growth and opportunities (utilizing SWOT analysis)
  • Completes required and appropriate audits to ensure that their restaurants meet McDonald’s. standard practices and procedures regarding cash, security, payroll, health & safety, etc.
  • Manage the implementation of reinvestment, CAP plans and CAPEX on an annual basis to include opening new restaurants, re-builds, re-models, equipment purchases, etc.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and qualifications:

 

  • 3-5+ years of McDonald’s restaurant (or other QSR) operations experience demonstrating an expert knowledge of operations procedures and key restaurant performance metrics.
  • Exceptional communication skills specific to McDonald’s corporate organization.
  • Refined consultative approach that engages stakeholders in a collaborative manner. Very strong customer focus with keen attention to detail and ability to translate requirements into action. Ability to present, influence and communicate information based on target audience.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to frame projects, create solutions and drive cross-functional efforts to successful completion on budget and schedule.
  • Self-starter who is capable of multi-tasking along with the ability to navigate through an ambiguous, ever-changing environment.

 

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this role is $76,799- $102,398 per year
