The Lease Team in Global Business Services (GBS) currently has an excellent opportunity for an individual to gain a detailed understanding of McDonald's real estate and franchisee accounting processes, while also developing a broader perspective on McDonald's global business through exposure to consolidated internal and external financial accounting and reporting processes supporting lease income accounting activities across various regions.

 

This role is part of the Global Finance team and is responsible for performing lease income accounting activities, maintaining accurate financial records, supporting reporting and reconciliation processes, and ensuring compliance with established accounting policies and procedures. The Specialist will work closely with cross-functional stakeholders, market finance teams, and business partners to resolve issues, drive process improvements, and support timely and accurate financial reporting.

The candidate is expected to reside in Hyderabad, India.

Duties

  • Perform lease income accounting activities, including the review, validation, and maintenance of lease data within the TRIRIGA system.
  • Prepare and analyze lease income reports, reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure completeness and accuracy of financial records.
  • Manage lease-related general ledger (GL) accounts, including monthly reconciliations and resolution of reconciling items.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities in accordance with established timelines and accounting requirements.
  • Prepare lease income forecasts and variances analyses, providing insights and explanations to stakeholders as needed.
  • Partner with Market Finance, Real Estate, and other cross-functional teams to investigate and resolve accounting issues and data discrepancies.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and documentation requirements related to lease accounting processes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, standardization, and automation to enhance operational efficiency and data quality.
  • Support internal and external audit requests by preparing documentation and responding to inquiries in a timely manner.
  • Assist in training team members and sharing knowledge of lease accounting processes, systems, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Good understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and account reconciliation processes; professional certifications (e.g., CA, CPA, CMA, ACCA, MBA) are advantageous but not required.
  • Typically 2-5 years of experience in accounting, finance, shared services, or a related discipline.
  • English proficiency (written and verbal, IRL Level 4).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including experience with data analysis, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Experience working with financial systems, databases, ERP platforms, or lease management systems is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate issues, identify root causes, and recommend solutions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders across functions and regions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take ownership of assigned responsibilities.
