Department Overview

McDonald’s is replacing its global Learning Management System - a multi-year, multi-market transformation that will reach corporate employees, field teams, franchisees, and crew members across 100+ markets and approximately 1.8 million learners. This is one of the most significant learning technology investments in McDonald’s history, and it is being delivered through the Global Business Services (GBS) organization.

As the Manager, Learning & Development, you will own the program’s market-facing delivery, ensuring that every market in scope is prepared, engaged, and successfully activated on the new LMS platform. You will serve as the primary bridge between the global program team and McDonald’s market organizations worldwide, coordinating readiness activities, managing market engagement sequencing, and overseeing the Change Management and Communications workstream that sits within your team. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of Learning & Development expertise and frontline restaurant operations experience, enabling them to successfully lead large-scale learning transformation programmes within a fast-paced operational environment.

You will sit within the Global LMS Migration program team, reporting directly to the Deployment Lead. The Change Management and Communications workstream reports into this role, as does the US Market workstream lead. You will work in close collaboration with the Deployment Lead, the PMO, L&D Strategy, Functional Solutions, and Global Technology, and will serve as the primary point of contact for market leads throughout the program.

Duties

Market Readiness

  • Own market readiness planning and execution globally, ensuring markets are assessed, prepared, and ready for go-live on schedule
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for market leads globally, building strong relationships and maintaining visibility into market-level risks, dependencies, and readiness status
  • Develop and maintain market readiness frameworks, checklists, and criteria that define what “ready” looks like for each market in scope
  • Coordinate with the PMO and Deployment Lead on market prioritization, sequencing, and readiness gate reviews
  • Lead market-facing working sessions, readiness reviews, and deployment planning calls, ensuring market teams are clear on their roles, timelines, and escalation paths
  • Escalate market-level risks and blockers to the Deployment Lead and program governance forums in a timely and structured way
  • Draw on prior LMS rollout experience to anticipate market adoption challenges and proactively address them before they become deployment risks

Stakeholder Engagement & Program Contribution

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with market technology leads, segment representatives, and regional stakeholders across all markets in scope
  • Partner closely with Market Leads and GPO Consultants who serve as the primary interface between the global program and individual markets, ensuring their readiness activities, local requirements, and market-specific risks are visible and addressed within the program plan
  • Represent the market and activation perspective in program design decisions, ensuring global standards account for market-level realities and constraints
  • Support the Deployment Lead in SteerCo and executive reporting by providing clear, accurate market readiness and activation status
  • Manage and develop direct reports, building a team that can scale effectively as the program moves from pilot through full global deployment

Qualifications

Required

  • 5+ years of experience in program delivery, learning technology deployment, market engagement, within McDonald’s or a large, complex global organization
  • Demonstrated experience leading market or field readiness activities for a large-scale technology rollout or platform migration
  • Experience in designing and deploying large-scale blended learning programmes for operational leaders.
  • Strong understanding of change management principles and how they apply in a large-scale, multi-market technology deployment
  • Proven ability to build effective working relationships with market and regional stakeholders across multiple geographies and cultures
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, with experience presenting readiness status and risks to senior program leadership
  • Experience managing or providing oversight to direct reports or workstream leads
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365, particularly Teams, Excel, SharePoint, and PowerPoint

Preferred

  • Restaurant/Operations experience
  • Leading leadership development programmes for restaurant or retail management populations.
  • Prior experience leading or supporting an LMS rollout across multiple markets, with direct market engagement responsibilities
  • Familiarity with McDonald’s market structure, segment organization, and how technology initiatives are deployed across franchise and company-owned markets
  • Experience working within a formal program governance structure (SteerCo, RAID log, milestone-based delivery)
  • Experience coordinating with a Systems Integrator or third-party implementation partner in a program delivery context
