At McDonald’s, we’re looking for a Sourcing Specialist to join our Madrid office and play a key role in driving strategic sourcing initiatives. In this position, you will work closely with the Sourcing Manager, to ensure supply and control F&P cost. This position will be responsible for supporting sourcing related activities for its assigned projects and categories, with a primary focus on core, standard and permanent products which hold the highest value. This includes collaborating with the Sourcing Manager and internal stakeholders to provide analytics support, calculating and reporting savings, executing supplier management and procurement best practices such as RFIs/RFPs, negotiating with suppliers, and providing general sourcing support.
What will key accountabilities be?
Strategic Sourcing Execution:
- Support and Leadership: Provide support for the Sourcing Manager and/or lead the execution of sourcing projects, identifying products and services that offer the best total value for the McDonald’s system. Conduct market and supplier research to support sourcing strategies and lead or support supplier negotiations. Search for and propose alternative local suppliers and innovative processes.
- Assure supply: Ensure supply and reduce leftovers during each product transition by identifying supplier risks, developing tools, routines, and communication channels to anticipate incidents, and formulating suggested mitigation strategies in coordination with the logistics provider.
- RFIs/RFPs Management: Develop, launch, maintain, and analyze Request for Information (RFI) and Request for Proposal (RFP) scoring models to support sourcing initiatives, score suppliers, and support the supplier selection process. Work closely with key stakeholders and legal to finalize contracts, including Terms and Conditions, complying with local procedures and guidelines to fulfill GSC policies.
- Supplier Performance Measurement (SPM): Conduct annual SPM meetings, prepare and lead supplier analysis, follow up, and ensure all documents are available and updated.
- Price Management: Ensure all prices are updated and that Restaurants and Franchisees receive the correct Pricing List (including new references, excluding delisted ones, price updates, promotions, WRIN changes, logistic conditions changes, etc.).
- Technical Efficiency and Cost Savings: Develop technical efficiency with spend analysis and visibility tools to create spend reports, assist in the creation of yearly cost savings projects, track and report savings, and calculate and present cost savings results to the Sourcing Manager.
- Project Management: Develop project plans, deliverables, metrics, and milestones for associated projects using and supporting internal database applications and analytical tools, evaluating data quality, and producing outputs as requested.
- Support to Committees: Provide support to the Purchasing and other Franchisee Committees, managing projects, and preparing executive-level presentations that drive decision-making in an easy-to-understand format.
- Brand Trust and Cross-functional Collaboration: Enable brand trust by working within multi-department teams such as Quality, Sustainability, Operations, Marketing and others. Report and communicate with global counterparts, aligning company strategies from the global to the local level.
- Onboarding Suppliers and references on Digital Tools: Manage the onboarding process for suppliers and references onto all our digital tools, with a particular focus on SIM, S2P, and AMABIS (Savings and S&OP Project). Ensure suppliers are trained and proficient in utilizing these tools effectively to enhance operational efficiency and collaboration.
- Integrated Supply & Demand Planning: Lead the Sales & Operations Planning tool. An integrated & Digitized Demand and Supply Planning process that aligns the Market’s Phased Plan, including the Marketing Calendar, with Market and Global Supply Chain capabilities.
Decision-making
- Supplier Selection and Approval: Decide which suppliers to recommend for approval based on thorough evaluation of their capabilities, quality standards, and cost competitiveness. Determine when to propose discontinue relationships with underperforming suppliers and identify alternatives.
- Negotiation Outcomes: Make critical decisions during negotiations to secure the best possible terms for the company, including pricing and delivery conditions.
- Cost Management: Independently identify cost-savings opportunities and propose actions to implement them, such us renegotiating terms or alternative suppliers.
- Risk Mitigation: Asses potential risks in the supply chain and propose on mitigation strategies to prevent or minimize disruptions.

Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of prior experience in negotiation as a buyer within the food products industry, demonstrating proficiency in project management and numerical analysis.
- Previous industry: QSR or Retail sector/Buyer
Academic Studies / Knowledge
- English: C1 Level
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, or related fields by equivalent professional experience.
Strong analytical skills, capable of extracting and filtering data from different databases.
