Department Overview

As a Software Development Engineer I (SDE I), you will contribute to the development, maintenance, and modernization of enterprise applications that support McDonald's Global Account Management (GAM) platform.

Working alongside experienced engineers, you will build technical expertise while developing secure, scalable, and maintainable software solutions. This role provides the opportunity to work across both legacy and modern technologies while gaining exposure to enterprise software engineering practices that support millions of users worldwide.

The ideal candidate is eager to learn, enjoys solving technical problems, and is motivated to grow into an independent software engineer.

Duties

  • Develop and maintain enterprise applications using C# and the .NET ecosystem.
  • Implement features, enhancements, and bug fixes under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.
  • Contribute to the maintenance and modernization of applications built on .NET Framework 4.8, ASP.NET MVC, and modern .NET (8/10).
  • Develop user interfaces using Razor Pages, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, and CSS.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following established engineering standards and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot application issues with support from senior engineers.
  • Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback into future development.
  • Collaborate with Product Owners, QA Engineers, Architects, and Software Engineers across global teams.
  • Participate actively in Scrum ceremonies, including Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Daily Stand-ups, Sprint Reviews, and Retrospectives.
  • Support production environments when needed under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Continuously improve technical skills through mentoring, collaboration, and self-learning.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 1+ years of professional software development experience using C# and .NET (internships or equivalent experience may be considered).
  • Experience with C# and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
  • Basic experience with ASP.NET MVC or ASP.NET Core.
  • Basic understanding of .NET Framework 4.8 and modern .NET (8/10).
  • Basic experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Familiarity with REST API development.
  • Basic understanding of software design principles and Dependency Injection.
  • Familiarity with Git version control.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn enterprise software engineering practices.
  • Experience working within Agile teams using Scrum.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
