Department Overview
As a Software Development Engineer II (SDE II), you will contribute to the design, development, modernization, and support of enterprise applications that power McDonald's Global Access Management (GAM) platform.
This role focuses on building secure, scalable, and maintainable applications while balancing new feature development with modernization of existing legacy systems. You will work across both modern .NET applications and enterprise solutions built on the .NET Framework, collaborating with global engineering teams to deliver high-quality software supporting millions of users worldwide.
The ideal candidate is a strong mid-level engineer who can independently deliver medium-to-complex features, troubleshoot production issues, participate in technical design discussions, and contribute to the continuous improvement of our engineering practices.
Duties
- Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise applications using C# and the .NET ecosystem.
- Build and maintain RESTful APIs and backend services.
- Enhance and modernize legacy applications built on .NET Framework 4.8 and ASP.NET MVC.
- Develop new applications using modern .NET (.NET 8 and future versions).
- Implement user interfaces using Razor Pages, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, and CSS.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following engineering best practices.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve production issues through log analysis and debugging.
- Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Architects, QA Engineers, Security teams, and global stakeholders.
- Support production systems, including participation in L4 support activities when required.
- Assist junior engineers through technical guidance and knowledge sharing.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, and retrospectives.
- Contribute to modernization initiatives that reduce technical debt while ensuring business continuity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent professional experience).
- 3+ years of professional software development experience building enterprise applications using C# and .NET.
- Experience developing enterprise applications using C# and .NET.
- Strong experience with .NET Framework 4.8 and ASP.NET MVC.
- Experience building applications using modern .NET (.NET 8 or newer).
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
- Experience developing REST APIs.
- Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
- Experience working with Dependency Injection.
- Familiarity with CQRS and Event-Driven architectures.
- Experience working with Git-based source control.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to understand and enhance existing enterprise applications.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating within distributed global teams.
