Department Overview

As a Software Development Engineer III (SDE III), you will serve as a senior individual contributor responsible for designing, developing, modernizing, and supporting enterprise applications that power McDonald's Global Access Management (GAM) platform.

This role requires deep technical expertise across modern and legacy technologies, with the ability to design scalable solutions, solve complex engineering problems, and provide technical leadership through mentorship and architectural guidance. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, reliable, and maintainable software supporting millions of users worldwide.

Successful candidates are expected to own large technical initiatives, influence engineering decisions, and drive continuous improvements across the platform while balancing modernization efforts with operational stability.

Duties

  • Design, develop, and maintain enterprise applications using C# and the .NET ecosystem.
  • Lead the technical implementation of medium-to-large engineering initiatives.
  • Design scalable, maintainable, and secure software solutions.
  • Build and maintain RESTful APIs and distributed backend services.
  • Modernize enterprise applications from .NET Framework 4.8 to modern .NET (.NET 8/10).
  • Develop user interfaces using Razor Pages, JavaScript, jQuery, HTML, and CSS.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues and lead root cause analysis efforts.
  • Review architecture and code to ensure engineering quality and consistency.
  • Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance and code reviews.
  • Participate in technical design discussions and architectural decisions.
  • Collaborate with Architects, Product Owners, QA Engineers, Security teams, and global engineering organizations.
  • Support production systems, including participation in L4 support and critical incident response.
  • Identify technical debt and propose modernization strategies.
  • Participate actively in Scrum ceremonies and engineering planning activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience building enterprise applications using C# and .NET.
  • Extensive experience developing enterprise applications using C# and .NET.
  • Strong experience with .NET Framework 4.8 and ASP.NET MVC.
  • Strong experience building applications using modern .NET (.NET 8 or newer).
  • Strong experience designing and consuming REST APIs.
  • Advanced Microsoft SQL Server experience.
  • Experience designing scalable enterprise software.
  • Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Design and SOLID principles.
  • Hands-on experience with Dependency Injection.
  • Strong understanding of CQRS and Event-Driven Architecture.
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Experience working with Git-based version control.
  • Ability to independently own complex technical initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
