Department Overview
Duties
- Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing applications and APIs using .NET technologies.
- Build and enhance software solutions that support McDonald's digital ordering, delivery, and customer experience platforms.
- Collaborate with Product Managers, Architects, Quality Engineers, and cross-functional engineering teams to deliver business value and high-quality software solutions.
- Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, solution design, development, testing, deployment, and production support.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven integrations supporting both internal systems and external business partners.
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following established engineering standards and best practices.
- Perform code reviews and contribute to improving code quality, system reliability, and development processes.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve software defects, performance issues, and production incidents.
- Support cloud-native application development, modernization initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Implement automated testing and CI/CD best practices to improve software quality and delivery velocity.
- Contribute to system observability, monitoring, logging, and operational excellence initiatives.
- Work within Agile delivery teams, participating in sprint planning, estimation, backlog refinement, and team ceremonies.
- Collaborate with globally distributed teams to support new capabilities, platform enhancements, partner integrations, and market activations.
- Assist in evaluating new technologies and engineering approaches to improve scalability, maintainability, security, and developer productivity.
- Support technical documentation, knowledge sharing, and mentoring activities within the engineering team.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 3+ years of professional software development experience building enterprise applications and services.
- Experience developing applications using C#, .NET, and related technologies.
- Experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs and web services.
- Experience working with relational and/or NoSQL databases.
- Experience with source control systems and collaborative development practices.
- Understanding of software design principles, object-oriented programming, and common architectural patterns.
- Experience troubleshooting application issues and supporting production systems.
- Familiarity with Agile software development methodologies and participation in Scrum ceremonies.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and debugging skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing cloud-native applications on GCP, AWS, or Azure.
- Experience building microservices and event-driven architectures.
- Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
- Experience working with distributed systems, integration platforms, and high-volume transactional applications.
- Knowledge of application monitoring, logging, observability, and operational excellence practices.
- Experience implementing automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.
- Experience working with messaging technologies such as Kafka, Pub/Sub, or similar event-streaming platforms.
- Understanding of application security principles and secure coding practices.
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and contribute effectively in a fast-paced, global engineering environment.
