The Senior Engineering Manager is responsible for driving the Engineering squads towards completing the backlog, leading development of the product/platform features, and leading the daily activities of the squad! The Senior Engineering Manager focus on complex products and may be the line manager to several engineers.
This role is based in Mexico City and includes collaboration with colleagues across local and global teams. To support effective communication, advanced proficiency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal) is required.
Duties
Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Attend all squad level ceremonies and act as the leader of the Software Development Engineers (SDE’s) of the respective squad
- Partner with PM (in a Product squad) to own the entire lifecycle of the backlog grooming process
- Lead the output (quality and efficiency) of external vendor squads to ensure they are delivering to the standards we require at McDonald's
- Ensure the code development is in line with the architectural, quality and security standards and best practices
- Maintain documentation standards for all software shipped by the squad
- Answer technical questions from the squads and stay accountable for technical solutioning
- Accountable for deployment of new features including QA, push to production and defect remediation
- Shared cross-product platform concerns, including cross-cutting experiences like navigation and information architecture, and common resources like design systems
- Act as the mentor to junior Tech Leads
Qualifications
- Significant software development experience, with knowledge of Agile software development process
- Experienced technical leader with hands-on development and deployment experience with insights into the newest technology and development trends.
- Experience partnering with team members across an at-scale, complex, global matrixed organizational setup.
- Excellent understanding of the latest development technologies
- Previous experience with Kiosk solutions and basic understanding of the supporting business processes
- Enterprise Infrastructure knowledge
- Experience with code refactoring, design patterns, design-driven development, continuous deployment, highly scalable applications, and application security
- Guide in pair programming, continuous integration, test-driven development & incremental design
- Experience in Agile Development, application of Agile techniques and delivery practices
- Promotes adoption of Agile methodologies to secure dedicated approach in product teams
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to explain complex technical decisions to non-technical partners.
- Advanced proficiency in both English and Spanish (written and verbal)
