Role Overview
The Senior Engineering Manager of RFM is responsible for end-to-end delivery of restaurant technology platforms supporting Ordering, Food Preparation, and Platform domains. This role combines engineering leadership, people management, and delivery accountability. The role leads hybrid squads across US, Mexico, and Brazil, delivering scalable systems using Java, Angular, and event-driven architecture.
Key Responsibilities
• Own end-to-end delivery of distributed systems and product initiatives
• Lead execution of backend services (Java), APIs, and frontend apps
• Partner with Product Managers to manage backlog and prioritize work
• Balance feature delivery and technical debt
• Coordinate cross-squad dependencies and global teams
• Lead incident response and production issue resolution
• Guide development of microservices, APIs, and event-driven systems
• Ensure adherence to engineering standards and best practices
• Drive system reliability, scalability, and performance
• Collaborate with Lead Engineers and Architects for technical alignment
• Own delivery metrics, quality, and continuous improvement
• Drive test automation and CI/CD practices
• Monitor defect rates, incidents, and system health
• Support modernization efforts and technical debt reduction
• Leverage an innovation mindset to help our platform evolve
Partner with Product Managers and Design Leads as part of the initiative triad
• Work with Scrum Masters, QA SMEs, BTAs, and Architects
• Participate in a global organization, coordinating across geographically distributed teams
• Manage 8–12 engineers including performance, coaching, and career growth
• Hire and develop engineering talent
• Foster a high-performing and inclusive team culture
Qualifications
• 8+ years software engineering experience
• 3+ years in leadership roles
• Strong experience with Java/Spring Boot or .NET
• Experience with APIs, microservices, React/Next.js
• Familiarity with event-driven architecture and cloud platforms
• Proven experience leading distributed teams
• Preferred experience with agentic development
