The Person

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced WPS Consultant to join the Maccas NZ Head Office Team.  Supporting our Restaurant and Corporate staff in all things related to Workplace Safety, we are looking for someone who is capable of managing multiple priorities, has strong time management skills and thrives in a busy and ever changing environment.  The ability to relate to people at all levels is essential to the success of this role, as you'll be dealing with stakeholders from Crew level right through to Franchisees.  An understanding and empathetic nature along with strong relationship building skills are both incredibly important. The Role & Duties

  • Provide specialist workplace safety support, expertise and service to support departments, restaurants, franchisees, suppliers and contractors.
  • Create and/or review workplace safety policies and procedures, training materials and tools to ensure currency
  • Facilitate workplace safety training that motivates, builds competencies and improves individual’s performance and contribution to restaurant safety results
  • Representation on Cross Functional Teams wherever appropriate.
  • Coordinate and complete H&S audits
  • Conduct high level critical incident investigations and reporting 
  • Provide recommendations to support departments and operations on incident outcomes and solutions.
  • Coordinate compliance activities with Government Departments (e.g. WorkSafe, Police).  This includes notification of notifiable incidents, providing information to inspectors and preparing investigation/notice responses.
  • Conduct/review or provide advice on Risk Assessments as required.
  • Review updates of Workplace Safety Legislation, relevant standards, codes and industry practices by accessing regular updates, WPS forums and networking.
  • Maintain workplace safety records in accordance with McDonald’s Records Management Policy.
  • Implement allocated actions to achieve Workplace Safety Key Performance Indicators.

Qualifications

  • At least 5 years' experience in Workplace Safety
  • Understanding of Workplace Safety Legislation and the workings of ACC
  • Relevant Health & Safety qualifications would be an advantage
  • Experience in the food industry or quick service restaurant environment would also be beneficial
