Department Overview

Our Payroll Services Department is a part of the Global Finance Team within McDonald’s Global Business Services (GBS) organization. Payroll Services provides full hire-to-retire payment processing for over 60,000 employees located in North America and across the globe. GBS is committed to delivering 100% Customer Satisfaction in a timely, high quality and accurate manner while ensuring adherence to internal controls.

Payroll Services is currently in need of a specialist role that will be responsible for higher-level concepts and duties related to payroll, system usage, and continuous process improvement activities. The position also participates in various payroll procedures, general ledger & account reconciliation, data analytics, and reporting.

Duties

Payroll/Accounting:

  • Learn & apply payroll concepts from system treatment through to financial impact including labor, paid time off, general taxation, and accruals within a fast environment. Participate in specialized payrolls testing, processing & validation.
  • Ensure reconciliations, accruals, and other accounting tasks are completed promptly and accurately.
  • Research, communicate and resolve general ledger inquiries including preparation of any resulting journal entries. Monitor and correct costing configurations in the payroll system.
  • Contribute to preparation of SOX self-assessment responses and inquiries for Payroll Dept.
  • Assist with payroll escheatment analysis, state reporting and related journal entries.
  • Employ technical skills including use of multiple corporate systems and enhanced Excel or SQL-based tools & files including pivot tables, logic formulas, & upload preparation.

 

Collaboration/Communication: 

  • Collaborate across teams to ensure compliance with daily, weekly, and monthly deadlines.
  • Cultivate relationships with other teams in and out of Payroll Services to support payroll related requests and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Customer Service: Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills in support of our crew, management, staff, and internal teams.
  • Complete Ad Hoc projects as needed.
  • Occasional Overtime may be required.

 

Qualifications

  • 1.5+ years of accounting experience and analyzing financial data; understanding of basic principles and activity is required (debits, credits, general ledger, etc.)
  • 1.5+ years of customer service experience in a professional office/business setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred
  • Experience working with cloud-based Payroll system; OracleHCM is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and customer service skills
  • Capability to work both individually and cooperatively as a team member
  • Ability to adapt to and leverage resources for results in an ambiguous, fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in managing multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Advanced attention to detail and accuracy
  • Aptitude toward technology and applications
  • Continuous Improvement mindset constantly seeking efficiency in workflows and root cause resolutions

Salary Range

The expected salary range for this role is $59,630.00 - $71,550.00 per year
