With new restaurant openings driving significant growth in the Australian market each year, our National Development Group is at the heart of McDonald's expansion strategy. With a strong foundation in architecture, you will create draft concept drawings for new restaurants and reinvestment projects. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, love solving complex problems, and want to help shape the spaces where millions of Australians enjoy their favourite meals, this role is for you!

 

What can you expect on a day-to-day basis?

  • Supporting the National Design Manager and Regional Teams in producing concept plans that align with platform minimums, operational standards, and design specifications
  • Integrating relevant planning and construction codes, Australian Standards, and regulations into design concepts
  • Coordinating the preparation and maintenance of National Architectural and Services Drawings in collaboration with external lead consultants
  • Working with internal and external stakeholders to develop architectural and interior design solutions for new and existing restaurants
  • Attending council meetings as required to support positive planning and development outcomes
  • Contributing to the development of sustainable and scalable building solutions aligned with the company’s environmental and sustainability goals
  • Analysing market cost data to support value-driven design decisions
  • Undertaking post project design reviews to ensure company standards have been executed correctly

Your keys to success:

  • A degree in Architecture (registration with the board is preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the design of Class 6 buildings
  • Proficient in National / State building codes & Australian Standards
  • Experience in quick service or retail design, with a focus on site planning and customer journey
  • Proficient in design-related software specifically Revit and AutoCAD
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Proficient in the Adobe suite of programs, including Acrobat, Photoshop and Illustrator
