The Opportunity
Ronald McDonald House Canada is seeking a Manager, Research & Insights to support the organization’s strategic decision-making through external environmental monitoring, research, and insight development. This role is responsible for identifying key shifts across the consumer and economic environment, pediatric healthcare system, government landscape, and nonprofit/CSR sector—and translating those insights into implications and opportunities for Ronald McDonald House Canada’s mission today and in the future.
Reporting to the Director, Strategy & Insights, the Manager plays a supporting role in the organization’s annual strategic planning process and provides ongoing operating‑landscape context to support team business planning. The role also supports mission innovation, pediatric healthcare strategy, and contributes to the development and execution of the national research agenda.
This role works closely with Brand, Chapter Programs & Impact Support, National Partnerships, and Regional Chapters, and supports donor and partner engagement through sector and company insights that strengthen prospecting and pitch development.

Duties
In addition to following McDonald’s Canada’s policies and procedures, principal accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
External Environment Monitoring & Strategic Insights:
- Monitor and analyze external trends across the consumer and economic environment, pediatric healthcare system, government landscape, and nonprofit/CSR sector.
- Identify emerging shifts, risks, and opportunities and assess their potential impact on Ronald McDonald House Canada’s mission and operations.
- Translate external insights into clear implications and recommendations for leadership and cross‑functional teams.
Strategic Planning & Business Planning Support:
- Act as a thought partner to the Director, Strategy & Insights on the annual strategic planning process, including timeline management and process delivery.
- Provide operating‑landscape context and insight inputs to support teams in developing annual business plans grounded in real‑time insights.
- Support strategy-related materials, synthesis, and presentations as required.
Pediatric Healthcare Strategy & Sector Engagement:
- Support the organization’s pediatric healthcare strategy through sector monitoring, research, and relationship insights.
- Manage Ronald McDonald House Canada’s annual presence at the Children’s Healthcare Canada conference and other relevant healthcare events and occasions.
- Track healthcare system trends and policy developments relevant to children, families, and hospital‑based care.
Mission Innovation & Program Development:
- Support the mission innovation function, including the testing, evaluation, and development of new national programs.
- Partner with Regional Chapters and external partners to design and pilot new national programs (e.g., GreenShield Staff Wellness and GreenShield Family Wellness Programs).
- Support application of research and insight findings to inform program development, iteration, and scaling decisions.
National Research Agenda & Insight Application:
- Support the development of Ronald McDonald House Canada’s national research agenda in collaboration with Brand, Chapter Programs and Impact Support, National Partnerships, and Regional Chapters.
- Identify and help prioritize annual research needs across brand, donor, and mission domains. Work with 3rd party organizations to design and execute the research.
- Ensure research insights are synthesized and support application to strategy, program development, and decision-making.
National Partnerships & Prospecting Support:
- Support the National Partnerships team with donor prospecting through sector, industry, and company-level insights.
- Provide contextual insights that strengthen partner targeting, pitch development, and value proposition articulation.
- Contribute research and insight inputs to support partnership growth and success.
Qualifications
Education: Post-secondary education in strategy, public policy, economics, healthcare studies, social sciences, business, or a related field.
Experience: 5+ years of experience in research, insights, consulting, policy, or a related analytical role. Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, or mission-driven environments is an asset.
Research & Analytical Skills: Strong experience designing, interpreting, and applying qualitative and quantitative research. Ability to synthesize complex information into clear insights and recommendations.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present insights to diverse audiences.
Collaboration & Influence: Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and influence without direct authority.

Salary Range
The expected salary range for this role is $89,599 - $127,998 per year
