The Opportunity
The Senior Manager, marketing role focuses on Value Strategy. it is a contract opportunity reporting to the Director of Calendar Planning, Value Strategy, and Menu. The individual in this role will lead the development and optimization of the holistic guest value strategies. This person requires strong strategic thinking and planning skills, and an ability to partner across teams to evaluate business opportunities holistically. This includes working cross-functionally both in and outside of marketing to build and maintain a pipeline of value strategy innovations and optimizations based on guest-needs, business performance, and industry trends.

Duties
In addition to following McDonald’s policies and procedures, principle accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
Strategy

- Lead the development of McDonald’s Canada holistic guest value strategies:
- Develop the ongoing value strategy leveraging consumer, digital, category insights and operational considerations to build recommendations.
- Collaborate across the Enterprise, with Brand, Digital, Consumer Insights, Strategy, and Business Insights teams to build and maintain a pipeline of value strategy innovations and optimizations based on guest-needs, business performance, and industry trends.
- Lead with innovative thinking to proactively shape new strategies that drive business growth and set industry benchmarks.
- Lead the development of McDonald’s Canada holistic guest value strategies:
People
- Manager to one direct report, supporting Value Strategy. Provide day to day leadership with a focus on development, empowerment, and enabling the team to manage key value programs.
- Build strong relationships and foster teamwork among agencies, marketing team, and cross-functional teams to achieve maximum performance.
- Empower the people you work with by providing guidance, clear communication & coaching.
Insights and Analysis

- Shape and champion the long-term Value Strategy, leading the development of enterprise-level business cases and strategic recommendations for Executive Leadership and Owner/Operator groups to make data-led, informed, and confident decisions.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with Consumer and Business Insights teams to uncover consumer and category opportunities. Translate them into actionable strategies that accelerate growth, brand affinity, and McDonald’s competitive advantage.
- Synthesize complex data and market dynamics – including sales performance, P&L trends, campaign and business performance, competition, and macroeconomic indicators – into clear, compelling narratives that guide strategic priorities and investment decisions.
- Act as a key liaison and thought partner to Global and US teams proactively identifying opportunities and adapt high-impact value initiatives across markets, while fostering a culture of innovation and knowledge sharing within the McDonald’s system.
Communication and Influence

- Present strategic plans and program recommendations to various Owner/Operator Leadership groups with clarity, influence, and collaboration.
- Ensure enterprise alignment and executional excellence by securing cross-functional buy-in by internal teams, Leadership, Field and Restaurant teams
- Steer and influence the cross-functional team project development process, and ensure initiatives are insight-led, stakeholder-approved, and executed with agility and excellence.
- Own the strategic transition from planning to execution, delivering clear, outcome-driven briefs and KPIs that empower Brand Marketing, Field, and Operations teams to activate programs with success.
Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in Marketing or Brand strategy with a proven track record of driving business impact.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field; MBA or equivalent considered an asset.
- Ability to frame complex business challenges, lead campaign performance analysis, insights generation and strategy planning to translate into actionable, forward-thinking strategies.
- Strong business acumen with ability to contextualize data within broader consumer and market dynamics, identifying innovative solutions to address evolving customer needs.
- A strategic and innovative mindset, with a passion for staying ahead of industry trends, consumer behavior shifts, and macroeconomic influences.
- Proven leadership experience in managing cross-functional initiatives, with a strong ability to influence and drive alignment across diverse teams.
- Highly self-directed and proactive, with the ability to independently lead end-to-end marketing program development and implementation.
- A critical thinker and analytical problem-solver; a natural willingness to challenge the status quo, drive change, and unlock new opportunities.
