The Opportunity
How would you like to work for the #1 quick service restaurant operation in the world? We currently have a position available in the National Supply Chain Department for a Supplier Quality Systems Manager, based in the Toronto office. This position will report to the Senior Manager, Quality Systems, and will manage Product Quality, Commercialization, Supplier and Food Performance and Food Safety standards and execution of those standards at the supplier, distribution, restaurant and corporate level.

Duties
This individual will be responsible for:
- Managing a wide portfolio of approximately 40 suppliers to ensure the supply of safe, consistent, high quality, great-tasting, compliant food products to the McDonald’s system that our customers love and feel good about eating.
- Providing technical expertise to internal and external stakeholder groups.
- Accountable for guest satisfaction, supplier trend improvement metrics and leadership of associated improvement projects.
- Work closely with the Menu Development and Supply Chain groups on technical specification support and successful commercialization of new products with ownership over reformulation needs that stays within regulatory, nutritional, and global guidelines.
- Conduct yearly reviews for food safety & quality and provide guidance and advice in developing corrective and preventative measures for owned categories.
- Initiating and monitoring corrective actions in the event of non-conformance and/or guest food product complaints.
- Make concise decisions to hold substandard product, investigate and align on corrective actions with suppliers while establishing and maintaining necessary documentation
- Supporting internal departments by answering category, product, ingredient or nutritional inquiries.
- Setting direction and providing support for supplier process and product development activities to reduce the overall product ‘cost to serve.’
- Managing communication with Regional Health Department and government authorities, when required.
- Evaluating supplier quality assurance and food safety programs (including HACCP/FSEP programs, GFSI benchmark schemes and third-party audits) and providing guidance/coaching where necessary.
- Representing the Canadian Organization on Global Corporate Quality Systems teams and projects.
Qualifications
- A degree in a related field (Biology, Microbiology, Chemistry, Food Science).
- 3-5 years experience in manufacturing, with meat slaughter, processing, R&D experience a strong asset.
- Previous restaurant experience a strong asset.
- Good working knowledge of statistical process control, continuous excellence/RCA, change management, document control, SOP, and specification writing.
- Ability to lead cross functional collaboration projects with departments to implement changes including new products and product changes.
- Experience in commercialization of new and existing food items and maintaining quality through facility transitions.
- Good working knowledge of CFIA regulations.
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal, written, presentations) with all manner of audiences, including executive leadership.
- Strong initiative and ability to take on multiple tasks and own strategic deliverables.
- Open to travel in North America, have a valid license and can drive to local supplier visits and throughout Canada (approx. 20%).
- Understands basic sensory testing techniques and principles.
- Has functional knowledge of ingredient and nutrition management.

Salary Range
The expected salary range for this role is $76,799 - $102,398 per year
